How To Become a Sexpert
Whether you're interested in becoming a paid sexuality professional or you’re simply looking to enhance other professional pursuits, I believe sexuality education should be accessible to anyone with a passion for sexual health or advocacy, and a willingness to learn and make a difference in their community.
In this post, you'll find ways to enhance your knowledge and advice for jump-starting your work in the sexuality industry.
1. FIND YOUR WHY.
Create your personal mission statement and identify your key audience. What lights your fire about doing this work? What kind of impact do you want to make on the world? Who do you want to serve? How do you want to serve them? What need are you solving? Having strong guiding principles will ensure that you’re making the most impact in the areas where you’re most passionate.
2. CHART YOUR PATH.
Roles you can serve as a sexuality professional run the gamut from sex coach to public health advocate to academic researcher. Below is a list of 10 careers in sexuality education to get you started thinking about your path to success.
3. FIND YOUR TRIBE
Connect with other sexuality professionals in your area. Look for local meet-up groups, attend sexual health-focused conferences, and join professional associations like AASECT, WOCSHUN or the CSE’s SexEd Network!
